Director of Data ScienceConnecticut Health-technology$180,000-$200,000 + Significant Equity, and Benefits
You will be working with a company whose Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning encompass strategic technologies that are transforming enterprise software, business, and society. My client helps their customers create an intelligent enterprise by infusing AI natively into business applications and providing platforms and services to address bespoke customer needs. Their Artificial Intelligence organization provides the technology and guidance to help product areas and customers adopt and benefit from AI. They are looking for an experienced Head of AI who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The RoleAs the Director of Data Science, you will be required to:

  • Responsibility for all biostatistical/clinical data analysis and statistical model development, production deployment, and ongoing improvement and maintenance of the company's products.
  • Manage an internal group of employees with backgrounds in statistics, mathematics, biochemistry/biophysics, and related disciplines, as well as external consultants.
  • Be a lead decision-maker on statistical evaluation of clinical trials protocols and will play a key role in statistical interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • You will be involved in the development of new methods for genomic data mining and algorithm development, leveraging your knowledge of computational modeling.
  • You will be working closely with the lab and quality group on sustaining, monitoring and improving lab metric analysis.
  • Key interactions will be with the bioinformatics/software development, quality, clinical laboratory, research, process development and clinical groups.
    Your Skills and ExperienceThe successful Director of Data Science will have the following skills and experience:
    • PhD, MS or equivalent experience in a relevant, quantitative field such as statistics, computational biology, biochemistry/biophysics, informatics (chemical or biological), applied math, or a related field and at least 7+ years (PhD) or 10+ years (MS) working in the pharma/biopharma, molecular diagnostics, or academic arenas
    • Experience in computational modeling, algorithm development, and machine learning is a must
    • Experience with the analysis of large genomic datasets is required; the ability to program in a variety of computer languages (R, SAS, others) is necessary
    • Experience designing, analyzing, and publishing either clinical trials or observational studies
    • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams, composed of molecular biologists/bioinformaticians, process development and automation scientists, clinicians, and software developers is key as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven track record in deployment and operation of bioanalytical models as a critical component of the clinical test workflow
    • Interest in the underlying biology is a plus!
