Job DescriptionThe role of the Sales Manager is to contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the company. The focus will be on the markets and customers serviced by the plants operating in Lincoln, NE and Meriden, CT.The Manager will secure a diverse base of customers that use multiple services and solutions provided by Universal, including HPP, bottling, cold storage, and other value-added services. The Manager generates profit by developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers, including key business executives and other stakeholders for the assigned region and/or business focus.Furthermore, the Manager communicates effectively with customers and colleagues to ensure growth, efficiency, continuity of business, and profitability. The Manager answers client queries thoroughly and efficiently, and identifies new business opportunities among existing customers. Finally, the Manager prepares sales reports for internal analysis and decision-making.Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge and skillset to successfully identify and secure opportunities that align with Universal Pure growth initiatives and capabilities (High Pressure Pasteurization [HPP], Cold Storage, Bottling, Value Added Services [VAS] and other Co-Packing).
  • Communicate sales information clearly and effectively, including developing and delivering presentations, calculating and sharing pricing information, and running and understanding CRM and maintenance reports
  • Aggressively identify & qualify new prospect opportunities on a recurring basis.
  • Drive qualified prospects and opportunities through pipeline until opportunity has been secured.
  • Take leadership role in collaborating internally to ensure resources, capabilities and pricing are in place to secure qualified opportunities.
  • Take leadership position in coordinating appropriate documentation to ensure successful onboarding of new customers (interface with QA, plant managers, etc.).
  • Manage and profitably expand existing base of business (introduction of new SKUs, leverage relationship to introduce additional Universal capabilities, etc.).
  • Focus on securing multi-year customer commitments (processing agreements, etc.).
  • Support promotional & marketing activities (trade show events, coordination with Marketing Team).
  • Promptly follow up on incoming leads through website, Linked-in, media outreach, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate balance of personal and remote interaction with customers and prospects.
  • Work closely with Executive Leadership and Commercial colleagues to develop strong understanding of Universal capabilities, and their application to our customer base.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Proficient in presentation development and delivery, pricing, CRM reporting & maintenance, etc.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sales, or a related field
    • Five or more years of experience in a sales role performing similar duties
    • Able to travel to key locations as appropriate (approximately 25-50%)Attitude / Competencies
